UPC-A barcode generator and reference
Create UPC-A retail barcodes with validation, check digit handling, precise sizing, batch workflows and professional export.
What is UPC-A?
UPC-A is a 12-digit retail barcode widely used in North American point-of-sale environments. It represents a GTIN-12 and is closely related to EAN-13.
The symbol uses fixed guard patterns, a required check digit and human-readable digits arranged beneath and around the bar pattern.
Data and validation
UPC-A accepts numeric data only. A complete value contains 12 digits, with the final digit acting as the check digit.
Barcode Next validates the entered value and can support workflows where the check digit is supplied or calculated according to the chosen settings.
Structure, size and quiet zones
UPC-A contains left, center and right guard patterns. The number system digit and final check digit are commonly positioned outside the central groups of bars in the human-readable text.
Barcode Next support
UPC-A can be generated individually or in batches, exported as vector or raster artwork, and placed onto label sheets. Size, quiet-zone, text and appearance controls are available in the same workflow as other supported retail codes.
