UPC-E barcode generator and reference
Generate compact UPC-E symbols for small retail packaging with validation, accurate sizing and professional output controls.
What is UPC-E?
UPC-E is a compressed form of UPC used when a full UPC-A symbol is too wide for the available packaging area. It represents a subset of UPC values that can be expressed using zero-suppression rules.
Because not every UPC-A value can be represented as UPC-E, the format requires additional validation beyond simply shortening the number.
Data and validation
Barcode Next should validate whether the supplied value can be represented as a valid UPC-E symbol and handle the corresponding number-system and check-digit rules.
When source data originates as UPC-A, conversion should only be used when the value is eligible for UPC-E representation.
Structure, size and quiet zones
UPC-E has a compact bar pattern and no center guard pattern. The number system and check digit are shown separately in the human-readable presentation.
Barcode Next support
Use the same professional controls for size, text, quiet zones, rotation, export and batch handling while retaining UPC-E-specific validation.
