General linear
Code 128 barcode generator and reference
Generate compact, high-density Code 128 barcodes for logistics, inventory and general-purpose identification with full data validation and professional export.
What is Code 128?
Code 128 is a high-density linear barcode used across logistics, inventory, shipping, asset identification and many general-purpose workflows.
It supports a much broader character set than retail-only numeric formats and can switch between different code sets to encode data efficiently. This makes it a common choice when identifiers contain letters, numbers or mixed content.
Data and validation
Code 128 uses multiple code sets to represent uppercase text, control characters and efficiently packed numeric data. A required check character is part of the encoded symbol.
In normal use, Barcode Next should choose or manage the appropriate encoding automatically rather than requiring the user to manually construct code-set transitions.
Structure, size and quiet zones
A Code 128 symbol contains a start character, encoded data, a calculated check character and a stop pattern. Its final width varies with both the data and the encoding strategy.
Barcode Next support
Barcode Next provides Code 128 validation, automatic symbol generation, human-readable text controls, exact sizing, quiet-zone settings, color options, batch processing and vector/raster export.
It is particularly suitable for bulk workflows where many internal identifiers, SKUs or logistics values need to be converted into individual files or labels.
